God bless Tom Mallams for hearing room slogan

Herald and News letter to the editor by Jack Faulkner, Klamath Falls 1/18/15

It is very interesting to observe the various responses to the suggestion by Tom Mallams that the words “In God We Trust” be added to the commissioners hearing room. Apparently the secularists who object to the idea have no knowledge of history and the desire of our founders to keep God foremost in our republic.

I hardly recognize the great country I was born into some 70 years ago. Every attempt to fundamentally change our great nation is taking place from the oval office on down. I may be labeled a bigot, a racist, a hater and a homophobe, but I love America and am sick and tired of the efforts being made to destroy it!   God bless leaders such as Tom Mallams who still recognizes that trusting God and publicly acknowledging it is a credit to the citizens they serve. Kindly allow me to quote the following founders:

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” John Adams.

“If, to please the people, we offer what we ourselves disapprove, how can we afterwards defend our work? Let us raise a standard to which the wise and honest can repair. The event is in the hand of God.”

   — George Washington, to the Constitutional Convention delegates.

In God We Trust, our national motto, is inscribed in letters of gold behind the Speaker’s rostrum in the House Chamber. If it’s good enough to be in our House of Representatives, it’s good enough to be in our commissioners hearing room. God bless Tom Mallams for attempting to place it there and God bless America!
