"Planting of USFWS hatchery tagged chinook salmon in the Sprague River to see if they could 'adapt' to that environment...to see if they will survive for 'after Project (dam) destruction' ...and/or to try and get a resident population of hybrids in place to suddenly 'identify' Upper Basin salmon shortly after Project destruction."
from Rex Cozzalio, Hornbrook, CA on the Klamath River 4/30/22

"Yesterday I had Fox 26 on, with the local News in the background when a roughly 30 second newsclip came on extolling how chiloquin high school students could see what it would be like to be a biologist.  They were invited to participate in the planting of USFWS hatchery tagged chinook salmon in the Sprague River to see if they could 'adapt' to that environment.  It was overseen by a Ms. Palmer(?) from U.C. Davis and was not stated if it was the first time...

The hypocritical and inconsistent implications are profound and many, but the only 2 reasons they can have to plant at this time would be the one stated, to see if they will survive for 'after Project destruction' planting of a 'new hybrid' (which means they would have to compete with kokanee and breed upstream and mature in Upper Klamath Lake), and/or to try and get a resident population of hybrids in place to suddenly 'identify' Upper Basin salmon shortly after Project destruction."
