In the past all we have done is keep the water levels higher and the fish population has done nothing but continue to decrease and the basin economy decrease because of water restrictions.

The lake has two ages of sucker fish in it, older fish which seem to continue to survive and millions of just born sucker fish which do not make it past the first few months of life.

These little fish are not bigger than a small hair at birth and get eaten by the other fish in the stream or die because of the parasites that run rampant in our streams and lake that affect them in the first few days of life.

This process catches naturally born fish in the first few days of life and takes them to a set of tanks with clean pure water. They are treated for the parasites to get them healthy and then held in large ponds for nearly two years then released back into the lake.

This process is not artificially propagating the fish (as the tribes stated in the article) it is only protecting naturally born fish from some of the major issues not being addressed in the lake and rivers until they are big enough to survive on their own.

Without this continued cooperation between Fish and Wildlife and private industry the sucker fish will continue down the path they are on now.
