Ad has cleared up many KID questions

We have all seen headline after headline in the Herald and News recently. Because you never get the complete story in the newspaper, many people (including KID patrons) are not certain what the truth is.

However, the ad that appeared on page C4 of the H&N, Sept. 16 cleared up a lot of questions for me.

First, it became apparent that the current board members being recalled were not out to damage the district or its patrons. What they were actually doing was protecting their patrons by making sure the C Flume contract was written in their best interest and the required funding was in place before signing the document.

What is not made apparent in the H&N stories is that the C Flume project was not a recent idea but rather KID had been aware that it had to be built for a number of years and had been charging patrons an extra cost per acre towards the project for several years.

The board members in office prior to those being recalled had not even created a separate account for those funds.

It is also clear from the timeline in the ad that the Bureau of Reclamation had repeatedly changed the funding amounts that could be borrowed or received. It would have been irresponsible for the board to have signed any contract before adequate funding was secure

Of course, the recall is not just about the C Flume. Certain people are angry over the district’s withdrawal from Klamath Water Users Association and also because of their stance on the KBRA/KHSA and dam removal. Eventually, all water issues in the Basin come back to that.

It is the right of every patron to cast a ballot if their zone representative is being recalled. Please vote.
