Announcement: Retired EPA scientist to speak on Suction Dredge Mining and the Environment Dec 3, 2007
 
The Upper-Mid-Klamath Watershed Council is pleased to host a Power Point presentation by Joseph Greene, retired EPA Research Biologist, entitled Suction Dredge Mining and the Environment.
 
Mr. Greene has over 30-years of national and international professional experience, including consulting, research and teaching, for both government regulatory agencies and industry. He retired from the US Environmental Protection Agency, Corvallis Environmental Research Laboratory, Corvallis, OR after 23-years of service.  He served as a Research Biologist.  Mr. Greene held a courtesy faculty appointment for 7-years at Oregon State University in the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering.  Four of the seven years were spent on campus as an Adjunct Professor and working on environmental research projects in the Western Region Hazardous Substance Research Center, Ecotoxicology Laboratory (which Mr. Greene constructed and supplied for the university).  Mr. Greene has been Chairman of committees and author of testing methods found in both the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) and Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater.
 
This is a Power Point presentation that puts modern day mining in perspective with regard to our environment. Everyone is invited, no reservations needed.
 
The presentation will be at the Hornbrook Grange Hall on Monday December 3rd at 6:00PM.
 
Directions are as follows; from Yreka take I-5 north to exit 789, which is also Copco Rd. Then turn left at the Chevron station onto Oregon Road; Take the first right from Oregon Rd. onto Main Street. The Grange Hall is a white building on the left.
