Appeals will review a $1 billion lawsuit filed by
members of the Klamath Tribes against PacifiCorp for
lost salmon fishing in the Klamath Basin. “It's going to take a number
of months to hear out,” he said. PacifiCorp has a 151-megawatt power complex on the Klamath River made up of four dams - Copco No. 1, Copco No. 2, J.C. Boyle and Iron Gate - as well as other small projects. The company also owns the
Keno Dam, which regulates water but doesn't produce
power, and has a contract to operate the U.S. Bureau
of Reclamation's Link River Dam. Salmon migration stops at the Iron Gate Dam, the lowest on the Klamath River, near Interstate 5 in Siskiyou County about 50 miles downstream from Klamath Falls. |
