Another way to help veterans
Herald and News viewpoint by Judy Smith-Clifton, 6/10/08

I have been moved by all the coverage the Herald and News has given to veterans recently. I truly hope there’s not one American who is not grateful for the sacrifices these soldiers have made for us.
Thoughts of older veterans might cause many of us to wonder how we can help those soldiers returning now from Iraq and Afghanistan. I have one suggestion: The Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes.
CSAH is a non-partisan national organization designed to help soldiers wounded in the Iraq or Afghanistan conflicts. While waiting for government assistance, CSAH helps disabled soldiers and their families rebuild their lives by paying mortgages, making car payments, paying utility bills, etc. The percentage of funds that actually goes to the soldiers through CSAH is more than 95 percent.
Local organizers are planning a huge benefit for CSAH here in Klamath Falls on June 21 after the Thunderbirds Air Show. There will be a buffet meal, a fashion show, entertainment, a dance, door prizes, raffles, and a silent auction.
Perhaps you would like to buy a ticket to this event, which promises to be fun as well as worthwhile. Perhaps you would simply like to make a donation directly to CSAH. Perhaps you belong to an organization that would like to put together a basket of items for the silent auction. Perhaps you are an artist/craftsman who would like to donate a piece of your work. Perhaps you would like to lend a physical hand to prepare for and/or work at the benefit.
If you are interested in getting involved, please call Bill or Cathy Morris at 883-1359 or Terry White at 533-2783.
This is truly a great cause.
