Klamath TMDLs accepted by water board at Eureka meeting
Eureka,
Calif. — The North Coast Regional Water Quality Control
Board (WQCB) adopted the Klamath River Total Maximum
Daily Load (TMDLs) implementation plan at its meeting in
Eureka last week, according to Dave Clegern of the State
Water Resources Control Board.
TMDLs are used as a regulatory tool to identify sources of pollutants in a river system and establish measures for curbing the amounts of pollutants discharged from those sources. The Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors have long maintained a position against various facets of the TMDLs, sending supervisors Jim Cook and Grace Bennett to the meeting with a packet of comments alleging that e-mails between WQCB members and other parties showed inappropriate influence from outside parties.
